About Union Aid

Union Aid (UA) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political humanitarian and development organization established by Dr. Toryalay Nassery (an Afghan scholar) in July 1979 in Peshawar, Pakistan. It was formed in response to the influx of refugees from Afghanistan and was the first/pioneer organization to serve the Afghan refugees in Pakistan. Union Aid implemented its activities mainly in refugee camps that later became villages, which was one of the biggest refugee camps in the world at that time. UA initiated its activities in Afghanistan in the 1981 and gradually expanded its services all over Afghanistan. UA started its activities with two doctors and two paramedical staff that gradually expanded to various programs, including:

Health Care & Nutrition: Establishment and management of hospitals and clinics, maternal and child health services, nutrition programs, family planning, as well as full sponsorship and specialized treatment of patients in European countries including Germany, Spain and Italy.

Food Security: Distribution of food items throughout the country.

Education: Literacy initiatives, school management, scholarships for students, and teacher training programs.

Livelihoods & Vocational Skills: Technical training, handicraft production, and employment generation activities to strengthen self-reliance.

WASH & Shelter: Provision of clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, hygiene promotion, and emergency shelters.

Emergency Response: Life-saving interventions including food and non-food distributions, winter relief packages, and rapid health responses during crises.

Agriculture & Environment: Tree plantation and afforestation initiatives to support sustainability and environmental resilience.

Protection: Women empowerment projects, orphanage centers, and demining project.

Cash Assistance: Continuous financial support for needy families and internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Job Description:

The Female Vaccinator as part of the primary healthcare services will be administering vaccinations to women and children in HF, referral services, and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of vaccines to protect the health of women and children.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a monthly plan for daily activities inside the clinic with the approval of the project supervisor.
  • The vaccinator must display a copy of their daily work plan on the notice board for easy reference by the team and supervisors.
  • Prepare, organize, and provide vaccination and exemption services for children and women in the clinic, according to established standards.
  • Strive to increase coverage, reduce dropouts, work towards achieving targets, and chart vaccination section graphs.
  • Arrange and store vaccines in the refrigerator, strictly adhere to cold chain conditions, and take responsibility for maintaining equipment and cold chain instruments.
  • The vaccinator should keep records of the number and consumption of vaccines and syringes, providing monthly reports to the supervisor and clinic head.
  • Maintain vaccine inventory in HF, update quarterly, and send to supervisor or head of HF.
  • Provide health education and promotion regarding exemptions and vaccinations to all residents within the health center's catchment area.
  • The vaccinator should actively collaborate with HF personnel and vaccination campaigns.
  • Adhere to health preservation conditions during vaccine administration, infection prevention conditions, and the cold chain.
  • Prepare monthly reports in accordance with the registry, tally sheets, and checks, and send them to the health center manager for review.
  • Adhere to Islamic, ethical, cultural, and social norms within the health facility and the community.
  • Foster a friendly atmosphere among staff members and participate in meetings with other health facilities employees as needed.
  • Have sufficient knowledge about the Basic Package of health services for Afghanistan and implement them in practice.
  • Execute other tasks assigned by the health center manager or institution supervisor.
 

Job Requirements:

  • Graduated from the 12th grade or Training and certification in vaccination and immunization practices.
  • Two year experience as vaccinator in any health facilities under BPHS.
  • Knowledge of vaccination schedules and cold chain management.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals and families respectfully.
  • Ability to work as part of a healthcare team.
  • Familiarity with Afghan immunization programs and community engagement is a plus.
  • Knowledge of local languages (Dari and Pashto) is essential.
