Project Overview:
Afghanistan is facing a severe healthcare crisis that is on brink of collapse, with a dire need for improved healthcare infrastructure and services. Kabul Province, with its high population density, is particularly vulnerable.
Union Aid is working tirelessly to address this crisis, providing critical healthcare services to vulnerable communities in most far away areas and supporting the development of a sustainable healthcare system in Afghanistan.
Union Aid operates 7 Basic Health Centers (BHCs) and 52 Community Health Posts funded by AFV (German donor). These BHCs are located across four districts of Kabul Province: Bagrami, Shakardara, Kalakan, and Qara Bagh districts.
1. Walayati Basic Health Center (Bagrami District)
2. Mamozi Basic Health Center (Bagrami District)
3. Qulab Basic Health Center (Shakardara District)
4. Bazari Basic Health Center (Kalakan District)
6. Bagh-e-Arq Basic Health Center (Qara Bagh District)
5. Qala-e-Musa Basic Health Center (Qara Bagh District)
7. Akakhel Basic Health Center (Qara Bagh District)
These health facilities provide essential healthcare services, including:
1. Maternal and Newborn Health Services
2. Child Health and Immunization
3. Public Nutrition Services
4. Treatment and Control of Infectious Diseases
5. Mental Health Services
6. Disability and Rehabilitation Services
7. Provision of Essential Medicines free of cost.
These services are provided Under the BPHS (Basic Package of Health Services).
The Community health posts staffed by dedicated community health workers (Male and Female) raise public health awareness, enhance referral systems and also provide primary medical assistance bridging the gap between healthcare service by reaching marginalized communities in remote and inaccessible areas.
The nutrition sector is extensively supported by UN agencies (WFP and UNICEF) by providing RUTF to our BHCs on a monthly basis.
