Job Description:

Position Summary

The Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for supporting pharmaceutical services in health facilities covered by Union Aid. The position ensures proper storage, distribution, record-keeping, monitoring of medical supplies, and supports the implementation of pharmaceutical standards in line with MoPH policies and Union Aid procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, implementation, and monitoring of pharmacy-related activities in assigned health facilities.
  • Support the safe storage, handling, and distribution of medicines and medical supplies.
  • Receive medical supplies, check for proper documentation, and stock items according to standard procedures.
  • Track consumption of medicine at health facility level and support preparation of consumption reports and feedback.
  • Assist in dispensing drugs and arranging stock according to usage and expiration dates.
  • Maintain records of pharmaceutical supplies to avoid shortages and ensure continuous availability of essential medicines.
  • Support pharmacy officer in selection, procurement, and distribution of pharmaceutical items.
  • Follow standard procedures for rational drug use and maintain high quality in pharmaceutical services.
  • Coordinate and comply with MoPH guidelines, standards, and policies for medical supply management.
  • Support in supervising lab supply management and ensure availability of required lab materials.
  • Report any challenges, shortages, or issues affecting pharmaceutical services.
  • Work closely and cooperatively with health facility staff and project team.
  • Participate in trainings related to storage, logistics, and rational drug use when required.
  • Assist in preparing required reports and documentation for pharmacy supplies and usage.
  • Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the Pharmacy Officer or line manager.

Job Requirements:

Education

  • Graduate from Pharmacy University

Experience

  • Two years of relevant experience working in pharmacy or medical supply management, preferably with NGOs or health facilities.

Skills and Competencies

  • Good knowledge of medicine storage, handling, and stock management.
  • Familiarity with MoPH pharmaceutical guidelines and standards.
  • Flexible regarding working hours
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and maintain good communication with health facility staff.
  • Basic computer skills (Excel, Word) preferred.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and responsible attitude in safe medicine handling.
  • Ability to work under pressure with commitment to quality and professional behavior.
